[comp.sys.next] ASCII-to-speech translation

I'm looking for some code that will read ASCII text and try to
pronounce it for you.  Does anybody have anything like this, either
public domain or commercial product?  If so, how well does it work,
do you get a chance to improve its vocabulary, and where do you get
it?  If not, is anybody working on this?
