What I would like is a MIDI interface for the NeXT with 1 or 2 MIDI out's and 1 MIDI in. Also, I need some kind of timing signal. The MIDI interface that I'm using in my PC generates a FSK-sync signal that can be recorded onto a track on my 4-track and then be used for subsequent recording/punch-in etc. It is my understanding that a MAC compatible serial-to-MIDI interface will work on the NeXT.(?) Are there any of these, or others, that have FSK-sync (or other (better?) sync signals)? What effect does the non-real-time nature of UNIX have on doing MIDI on the NeXT? Can the NeXT reproduce MIDI signals with reliable timing? I don't see a lot of posts from people talking about MIDI or audio recording on the NeXT... is there anyone out there that is doing actual MIDI arranging/recording/sequencing/playing with thier NeXT? If so, please drop me a line...
