Fellow NeXT OwNERS: Please email me if you can help. I want to hook up my NeXTstation as a terminal for a microcontoller board which has a RS-232C port with a DB-25 connector. I looked at the ZS man page as printed in the Network and System Admin book. It gives what appears to be an RS-422 to RS-232 cable for a terminal. I am guessing that this cable will work for the RS-423 port I have. If I apply that cable hookup to the RS-423 pinout and the RS-232C pinout I get the following: RS-423 RS-232C 1 (DTR) -> 8 (DCD) 2 (DCD) -> 20 (DTR) 3 (TXD) -> 3 (TXD) 4 (GND) -> 7 (SG) 5 (RXD) -> 2 (RXD) 8 (CTS) -> 7 (SG) Is this correct? I am wary of TXD->TXD and RXD->RXD instead of TXD->RXD and RXD->TXD. Also, should CTS be connected to SG? Thanks for your help. I am fearful of frying either of them. ################################################## ---==-----=======------- # Daniel Fish Proud NeXTstation OwNER # ---====-===========----- # Stanford University Junior Symbolic Systems # ---=================---- # Plain email only to zamenhof@csli.stanford.edu # ---====-===========----- ################################################## ---==-----=======-------
