A good liberal arts college in the northeast has engaged a software engineer from NeXT to help faculty and students become better critical thinkers. The college is advertising for academicians who would like to take advantage of the technology. As a PC/VMS/unix user with some Pascal familiarity, I am interested in applying for one of these positions. But I know little about NeXT, living in a rural area not easily accessible to hardware representatives (I work at a branch campus, not downtown Pbgh). Could anyone take a moment to tell me what sort of technology NeXT can offer higher education (specifically in the areas of literature and composition)? I'd like to try to determine whether my present experience is in line with what this college may want. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I'd like to ask people for some free advice. :) I am the happy owner of a cube, recently upgraded to '040 and 2.0, with 8 Mb ram, an OD, and a 40 Mb swap disk. My question is this: for best performance, am I likely to be better off by installing a (at least 210 Mb) hard disk, or by adding 4 - 8 Mb of ram? Actually two questions, the other being: If I get the hard disk, what are the specs necessary for it to fit inside the cube, and will I have to remove the current swapdisk? Please respond to schaefer@wam.umd.edu or LTP2::SCHAEFER, and I will summarize. -Martha Schaefer -- Martha Schaefer, Martha.Schaefer@f421.n109.z1.fidonet.org via The Black Cat's Shack's FidoNet<->Usenet Gateway blkcat.fidonet.org and Fidonet 1:109/401
