[comp.sys.next] OD Weirdness

wimsey@milton.u.washington.edu (Andrew Creighton) (02/19/91)

I have two difficulties:
First, every so often when I insert an OD into the drive
the File Viewer will not show the OD as having been mounted. I
can mount the OD by "mount"ing it from the shell, but the file
viewer will still not recognize it as a disk that can be ejected.
To eject the disk I have had to escape to the monitor and execute
an "ej 0" command and then reboot. This appears to happen more
often when the system is busy with several tasks at once, though
it has happened even when things were quiet.
Second, I now have one OD which, when inserted, gets
ejected immediately without ever having been mounted. Is there
anything I can do? If I lose this disk, it won't be the end of
the world, but gosh gee Betty Sue, things would sure be nice if
I could recover some files off this disk.
I'm running NS 2.0 with an '030 cube. Any help would
be appreciated.
