Hi I've noticed all the hub-bub about SCSI-2 cables and I thought maybe I could add to the confusion. I recently installed a Conner SCSI disk on a PS/2 SCSI card, which required a "special" cable. According to my friend at IBM (here comes the rumour...) that's because they put a SCSI-2 connector on it (the card) and have secret plans to allow upgrading of the SCSI-1 controllers to SCSI-2 with the switching of a few chips (I have no idea if this is feasable - its just what the man from the Evil Empire* said). Anyway, maybe someone who knows better could verify this and let the net know if an IBM "SCSI card to device" cable is related to the infamous NeXT "SCSI-2 to SCSI-1" cable, and will work on a NeXT. Then we can have a flame war over all the BAD THINGS that will happen by using IBM parts...;-) Remember to bring along some marshmallows!
