[comp.sys.next] 10Base-T to Thin Ethernet converter, where?

coco@cbnewsl.att.com (felix.a.lugo) (02/20/91)

	I'm looking for a source that provides 10Base-T (twisted-pair)
ethernet to thin ethernet "converters". I have an 030 NeXT cube
which has a thin-ethernet connector and need to connect it to a
network using twisted-pair cabling. (Note: I know that the 040
uses 10Base-T connectors, but don't expect to upgrade to it in
	a very long time.)

We have about every variety of ethernet cabling there is
(thick, thin, twisted pair). We've had good results with
the appropriate Cabletron transceivers. There are quite
a few people in that market I believe.

Disclaimer: no connection, not even as a customer, with
Cabletron. The firm supplies 'em, I use 'em, no complaints.

There are quite a few 10Base-T to thin ethernet repeaters on the market. They
cost in the neighborhood of $550.00. They are, after all, repeaters which
sort of explains the price.

We happen to use AT&T's 10Base-T to thin ethernet repeaters on our 10Base-T
netowrk. They work just fine.
