[comp.sys.next] Serial IO under 2.0

roy@prism.gatech.EDU (Roy Mongiovi) (02/20/91)

I've recently upgraded my '030 cube to version 2.0, and I've
been experiencing the following problem when trying to use
the serial port. Output gets lost, and the following error
message shows up in the console window multiple times:

Feb 20 00:12:32 valinor mach: zs0: recv buffer overrun

If I remember correctly, this used to happen under 0.9,
and then they fixed it under 1.0. Now it's back, how do
I get rid of it?

Hardware flow control is (of course) the way to go, and
like parity memory, should have been used on the original
boards, but upgrading to an '040 is out of the question
unless NeXT drops the price to something I can afford or
someone donates a board to me. Sigh.
