sometimes i really want all the screen space i can get, and then that
pesky NeXT icon at the top of the dock becomes a pain. (i've already
got the dock and menus pushed off the bottom of the screen.) that's
when i reach for the following handy csh one-liner:
echo Beepwindow currentwindowbounds pop 12 Beepwindow placewindow | pft
which reduces the icon to a mere 12 pixels high.
obvious points:
- replace 12 with whatever height you want (it's initially 64)
- the icon won't be as pretty any more
- if you reduce the height to zero you'll probably have trouble pulling
the dock back up (although you can increase the height again later)
