[comp.sys.next] Next-ImageWriter

I'm trying to set up an ImageWriter II printer as my
one and only printer. (Disgusting but affordable). I
have an '040 NextStation with OS2.0. I have tried the
two public solutions that worked at 1.0 (iwf and iwscript)
but neither has worked so far at 2.0. Robert Lin, the
author of iwscript, says he knows why it does not work but he
does not have the time nor inclination to fix it. With
the help of my local campus rep, Ned Engelke, and John
Osborn at UT, I have a binary version of iwf under 2.0.
However, the log file that I point to with my printcap
entry indicates that iwf is being fed a "--R" flag in the
print command. From looking at Next application print
statements, it appears that -R might be a resolution
flag. Unfortunately, this error occurs even when I execute
/usr/ucb/lpr from a csh! Definitely not standard BSD4.3.
Due to limited access to an extended release, I still do
not have an easy way of modifying code and then recompiling.
Therefore, has anybody else tried to drive an ImageWriter
(through a serial port obviously) at OS 2.0?
I would especially be interested in talking with Eric Scott
of San Francisco State, the author of iwf. If you read this,
could you send me your e-mail address?
One note for anyone thinking of trying this. Do not plug the
printer into serial port B because pin 7 of that port is +5V
and this might damage the printer according to a Next tech. note.

Thanks for replies and advice!
