I'm wondering how people are archiving large sound files (or lots of small ones). The OD was good for this but slabs have none. Is there any loss by recording to rdat? I'm wondering if I should get a tape backup drive (like a 1.2g Exebyte) or wait for audio rdat recorders to become common. The thing I like about the Ariel mic is that it has line ins. The mic itself is dissapointing. Is there anyone making a box that simply provides line ins for less money? (The reason for not using the codec mic is that its sr == 8k and I'd like to get sounds off CD sample libs). Any solder heads out there who could tell me how to make one?
