[comp.sys.next] Hard drive format problems

yjwu@unix.cie.rpi.edu (Yeun-Jung Wu) (02/27/91)

My system: 030 cube with Fujitsu M2249SA hard drive, OS 2.0

Problems: Fail to build hard drive; unable to format due to error
in mode select command(reported by Formatter V1.2)

Scenario: When I installed an external floppy drive to my system
this afternoon, the SCSI terminator was not ON. After
I straighten this out and successfully mount the floppy
drive, the hard drive went crazy! (fsck report many
problems. Superblocks are in trouble too.) I can still
boot the system from hard drive but it is extremely slow.
I then decided to build hard drive from OD using BuildDisk
routine. This process terminated soon after a R/W error
was encountered. I proceed to use sdform and Formatter, no
		  luck!
Any suggestions? Is the hard drive still alive or ....? Cost of
repairment? Where can it be done? Thank you in advance!
