I think he had to put up with a lot worse than a few long- winded folks snapping at one another. (By the way, the article quoted above was 100 lines, not long-winded at all.) Anyway, Galileo did have it better than Giordano Bruno, who was burned at the stake for suggesting, among other things, that there might be life on other planets. I prefer the net to the stake.
