Is there any way to get Edit to number the lines or just jump to say
line 23? Otherwise I'll just stay with vi.

This is an easy one, even I can answer it. While in Edit try
``Command-l''. A panel appears with the line number on which the
cursor is at. Just type the line number you want to go to and
hit return.
