Greetings from BANG, the Bay Area Next (Users) Group! We are starting a new CD-ROM project to catalog and collect information and programs useful to the NeXT community. I am helping on one part of it, which is to collect donated programs that have been written specifically for the NeXT platform (generic unix programs are another category). We wish to have access to the appropriate source code, makefiles, documentation, etc, for each program that will be included and made available to NeXT users. Accordingly, I have a few questions: 1) where are the NeXT archive sites (I've seen references to OSU - Oregon State or Ohio State?, Purdue, etc ) - Would each archive site please identify itself? 2) how may I access the archives? I've heard of anonymous ftp but never used it. I am not aware of where to find this program nor its documentation. Is this the appropriate tool? Is it possible to access an archive site directly from my NeXT machine via modem, or do I have to go thru an internet hub? I am new to both the NeXT world and usenet worlds, and appreciate your help and patient! Please email your responses to me, and I will summarize. Thanks! dick@lhs.woodside.ca.us Dick Benster La Honda Software
