[comp.sys.next] Followup to: How to get the Black Hole back

christopher@gacvx2.gac.edu (03/12/91)

I got a copy of the 1.0 Workspace app from my sysadmin and extracted it,
and, as a couple people who emailed me noted, the black hole icons are not
inside it.

But I did get a copy of them from Eric P. Scott (eps@toaster.sfsu.edu).
Thanks Eric! Where they are (in the 1.0 system) I don't know.

There are seven of the images, 5 animation and 1 the empty hole and 1 the full.
They are organized a little differently than the recycler--the recycler uses
its empty icon as part of the animation, the black hole's 5 animation icons
are distinct from its empty icon. So you'd have to make a decision as to
what you wanted the animation to look like. If you include the empty icon
into 2.0's Workspace, then every 4th icon will look like the empty icon and
the animation won't be smooth.

I am willing to distribute copies of the icons if you can't find them on a
1.0 system. They are not in /usr/lib/NextStep, and you could try searching
for the filename blackhole-gallery.tiff ('cause that's the name of the file
Eric sent me), but it might be buried in another file somewhere.

I made up the name--it's snarfed from an offscreen Bitmap in a
_running_ Workspace.
