There has been some discussion as to whether NeXT requires your old motherboard. I haven't followed the discussion too closely, I only remember two points: someone said "NeXT is letting me keep my old motherboard" and a professor of mine said he was returning his board "because they'll give me $50 credit" and something about T-shirts for it. He has promised to look into the possibility of selling it to me but someone ripped the co-processor off it and besides they are so cool I wouldn't mind having two so: if you are interested in selling your '030 motherboard please let me know, I will give you something more than the $50 core fee and a T-shirt for it. As for the quasi-religious aspects of this issue, none of it makes sense to me. Some have said NeXT will use the old motherboards to support old cubes. Statistically this makes no sense as most will be upgrading and one board should cover the chances that one in five might fail in the next five years. It seems to me those who have actually recieved their upgrades sing a slightyly different tune than those who are speculating. A $50 core fee is a $50 core fee and I won't believe there is any love lost until I see it written in the hand of Jobs himself. Please mail me as cornhead@sutro.sfsu.edu as this samba account is lame. Thanks. Oh, flames to cornhead too, and I may soon be in the market for a mono NeXT monitor and keyboard :-). -- ============================================================================= Extended Bulletin Board Service, Research & Development Office of Information Technology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill internet: bbs.acs.unc.edu
