[comp.sys.next] Chinese Chess and AutoScore to the archives

tucker@hoss.unl.edu (Gregory Tucker) (03/13/91)

Hola,

I have put two new programs to the archives at purdue and cs.orst.edu.
They are as follows:

(1) ChineseChess.Z: Chinese Chess is probably a misnomer, since I am
sure it is not the one with which you may all be familiar. Gabriel-
Chess may be a better name, but ChineseChess is the name for now.
It is a board game in which you can play either the computer or anohter
player. Expect better looks and a better computer-player in future
versions, but tell me what you think for now. It was written under
2.0, and I have not tested it for 1.0.

(2) AutoScore.tar.Z: AutoScore is an excellent utility for resale
outlets, although it may be of interest to general users as well.
After monitoring for a lack of user events, it will begin to play
score files out of the /NextLibrary/Music/Scores directory. It is
an excellent attention-getter when the machine sits unnoticed in the
corner of the campus computer shop or your office. Since it uses
an ioctl that only exists in 2.0, I am sure it will fail for 1.0.

Both programs have help on-line.

Gregory
