Hello everyone. I 'm beginning to work on my MSEE research project. The project will be basically a product that fits between Digital ears and A/D64x. The hardware is not the problem. A lot of the research I will be doing will be related to the DSP. I plan to use the DSP offline to do multiple effects, such as, reverb, delay, gate, etc. I don't think the DSP is fast enough to do realtime recording to harddisk and effects processing simultaneously. I could be wrong. So anyone out there who knows where I can get some information on digital effects proccessing let me know. Once I write the software for editing the data it will be public domain with souces. The hardware I'm designing will more than likely be patented and for sale either as a do-it-yourself kit or low cost fully assembled product. INMHO the prices that everyone wants for their A/D hardware to hang on the DSP port are way to high. A/D converters that do 2x oversampling are only $25 add some other hardware, case, and I get about $150 in parts. This is no whre near the $600 minimum that the hardware is selling for. Also send me information on what you might like to see in the software for effect and what hardware features you might like. I plan to include, if I can ever get any information, an AES/EBU input and output for DAT compatibility. My product will have at least 2x oversampling at 48 and 44.1k with sampling rate adjusments down to about 8k.
