I downloaded all 11Meg (!) of mouse-X binaries for software release 2.0 using my 2400 baud (!) modem, pieced the system together, and it worked perfectly! I have no problem using the hot-key pattern to go between NextStep and X. I built Motif and it also works fine from scratch. (Don't ask me for code though, MIT students have a site license for its use, but can't give it out.) I have flipped back and forth repeatedly while running many programs under each system simultaneously and I could not get it to break. It also seems fairly speedy except that sometimes the mouse falls behind as it moves, and refreshing the screen can get slowed under round windows, etc. In general, however, it ran faster (on my 68030 <- note) than it does on an HP3000 and VS2000, and a bit slower than a VS3100. It should fly on an '040. For those new to this thread, the binaries are on cunixf.cc.columbia.edu (128.59.40.130) as X11R4-Next-2.0.tar.Z. I am very pleased with the port. Thanks to everyone who worked on it!! Shane -- ------------------------------------------------------- Why waste bandwidth on signatures?
