Hello, I have a cube with a 40MB swapdisk and a 635 MB external disk. For certain apps that I have, I need to have a *large* /tmp directory, so I was thinking of making it be directly on my 635 MB disk. Normally, /tmp is a symbolic link to /private/tmp, which in turn is a link to /private/swapdisk/tmp. So what I did was: rm /private/tmp mkdir /private/tmp and then rebooted. This caused the console window, to not find the file console.log. I created one by hand in /tmp, however, piping output to /dev/console does not find its way to this file (and as a result does not get displayed in the console window.) My question(s) is: Keeping the swapdisk as the preferred swapping device, how do I move the /tmp directory off it and onto the 635MB drive? And still have the console device driver and window work properly? What creates the file console.log? How can I tell it where to create it?
