I have a 1977 Plymouth 'Volare. It has the simple problem of needing a new eng. What makes this hard is I don't know how to do more then tinker. I love to tinker with this type of stuff, but I think this goes a bit over my head. What I would like to put in it, would be a V8 with some power. I am told my current eng has a) A cracked Cylinder or b) A bad bearing. What it does is knock against the eng wall very loud. The faster you go (Rephrase, the more power you ask of it) the louder the knock. There would seem to be no real loss in performance, but it could, (I'm told) die without notice at any second... If thease don't add up, please let me know, I don't really trust the two people I asked. (Both are supposed mechanics).. If you have any ideas, on what I might do, with a SMALL budget, and a strong will to save this almost prime automobile (Only two spots of rust!), please feel free to reply. I don't read this news group, so please reply by mail. If enough interesting responses, (i.e. any detailed instructions on tests or how to pull things), I will repost to the net. Thanks for any help, -- Shawn p.s. I also have the problem of storage of 4 brand new tires until the problem is solved, what's the best way to store them, (i.e. I have the car on blocks, but left the tires on in case it left it's mounts. Will the weather hurt the tires much in this state?)... Usenet: mit-eddie!shawn Usenet2: cdstar!shawn Arpa: Shawn at Mit-Mc Chaos: Shawn@Mit-Eecs
