Has anyone tried to transfer data between a NeXT and a Sun via a Unix formatted floppy? I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences if you have tried, and especially if you have succeeded. Thanks, L. S. Finn lsf@astrosun.tn.cornell.edu

We have some SPARCs (Sun 4/60) in the department and I have falied to transfer files between the SPARCs and the NeXT at home using UNIX filesystem. It seems like the filesystem they each create when formating the disk is not compatible with the other. I have been using DOS format and binary read/write when I need to transfer stuff (this has the advantage of an extra 200K on a 1.44 diskette, which DOS formats to 1440K while NeXT and SPARC both format to about 1230K). If someone has gotten it to work under UNIX I would like to hear about it. -- __Heng-Yi Lin___________________________________ Brown University Class of 1992 CompSci/Economics cs191057@cs.brown.edu st702478@brownvm.brown.edu POB 4901, Brown University, Providence, RI 02912
