The following is posted for a friend. Please do *not* reply to *me*. Thank you. :-) Scott ............................................................... Howdy! Our news reader here isn't working so I've asked Scott Bennett to post these for me. Please send responses to me at: zazula@uazhe0.physics.arizona.edu as I won't be able to read your replies. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I have started work on a MIDI sequencer for the NeXT computer. The sequencer will have most of the features expected of a professional quality MIDI sequencer (eg. Opcode's Vision(tm), Voyetra's SP2(tm)). I will have a short, preliminary, description available very soon. I will be using the NeXT music kit (or subclasses of it) whenever possible so that data can be shared between the sequencer and existing MIDI programs such as Ensemble and ScorePlayer. Of primary importance is easy to use graphical editing of parameters (adding/removing notes from measures...) and tools to manipulate groups of notes (quantize, transpose, copy...). As I am sure I only use a subset of features of any given sequencer, you should feel free to send me suggestions on things to include. I hope to have e-mail discussions with interested people so that this program can offer what others are looking for. I will summarize the results of these discussions periodically. I have gotten very few responses from past postings on the subject of MIDI on the NeXT. I hope this is because my fellow NeXT-MIDI-musicians were working on their chops... Even if you don't have much to say, drop me a line and let me know that I'm not the only one wanting to use my NeXT to make MIDI Music...
