[comp.sys.next] C++, Objective-C compared, ATTENTION PROGRAMMERS

cs4ed3ap@maccs.dcss.mcmaster.ca (Tyldesley A) (03/25/91)

This is a request for information comparing C++ to Objective-C. I am writing
a paper, for a software engineering course, that will discuss the merits
and demerits of each.

I would greatly appreciate that anyone that has used both send me mail explaining
their opinion. If you know of any source of information that you think that I
may find useful please send me a quick note. Concrete examples of shortcomings
of either language would be greatly appreciated.

In other words any information on either language that you can offer would be
greatly appreciated. The only source I have so far is Brad Cox's book "Object
Oriented Programming: An Evolutionary Approach".

Does Objective-C on the NeXT have any Operator Overloading capabilities? If
not, how do you find programming without it and what work arounds have you
devised.

Thanks for your help. If you would like any information I collect let me
know. All submissions used in the paper will be attributed to the submitter
so please inform me if I should mention someone else should get the credit.
