[comp.sys.next] Printing on 'thick' stock on the NeXT laser printer

Steve Hayman <sahayman@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu> (03/28/91)

Anybody have any suggestions as to how I might use my NeXT
printer to print on some relatively thick stock? We are trying
to print some greeting cards. We have the blank cards but
the NeXT printer reports a paper jam when I try to
feed them into the slot.

I realize this is abuse of the printer and I should only be
feeding normal-thickness paper through it, etc etc, but this is

    a) kind of important, and
    b) it's my printer and I can break it if I want, and
    c) it's not plywood I'm trying to feed in, after all...

so any and all suggestions, including perhaps

"Disconnect such-and-such a switch in the printer temporarily,
and it won't think the paper is jammed, and the paper will make it through
but of course your warranty will be totally screwed"

will be graciously received.

Thanks.
Steve
