The Fall catalog of NeXT software and hardware mentioned a program called DAN for analyzing data and making publishable x-y plots. Has anyone had experience with this program and could summarize its good points and bad points? Like many other scientists, I would like a high-quality easy-to-use data analysis program for making high-quality plots for papers submitted for publication. Presently I am using Igor on a Mac II, which is among the most useful programs of its kind that I have used on any computer. I agree with other netters that Improv is nearly useless for many plots. NCAR graphics, plplot, SuperMongo, and other alternatives are inferior choices since they are command based, and require substantial efforts to get a nice plot. Igor has the especially nice feature of having integrated layout capabilities so complex groups of graphs are easily positioned, labeled, previewed, and printed. Henry
