Unless Larry has fixed the latest version of patch (I have patch2), you will also be able to experience a shell script that breaks under an ANSI preprocessor (yes, it breaks on your NeXT and GNU gcc). So if you're new to Unix, you get to roll up your sleeves and go into Larry's shell script and figure out how to patch (by hand) the patch so you can get it to run under arguably the most widely distributed C compiler in the world... oh yeah, and welcome to Unix. -- "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." -Friedrich Wilhelm Nietszche I can put the latest version of patch (from prep.ai.mit.edu) for NeXT 2.0 on sonata.cc.purdue.edu. I'll put the executable in the submission directory, along with the man page. Is that enough or should i also post the source along with the executable? let me know. -- =============================================================================== Internet: simmons@rigel.neep.wisc.edu Othernet: simmons@hoofers.lake.mendota --- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- --- According to the HitchHikers guide to the galaxy, the one thing we *cannot* afford to have is a sense of perspective. ===============================================================================

A patch binary that will run on 1.x and 2.x systems has been available for nearly a year and a half from sutro.sfsu.edu [130.212.15.230] as pub/patch.Z (yes, you need to uncompress it) --isn't it at all the usual archive sites as well? Someone asks about this every few months... -=EPS=-
