[comp.sys.next] 16MB SIMMS

bediger@isis.cs.du.edu (bruce allen ediger) (04/03/91)

I'm posting this for a friend who has a NeXT and a Mac and doesn't read
this newsgroup.

I quote:
I just read about 70ns 16 megabyte SIMMS that use the standard 30-pin construc-
tion and supposedly "appear to the operating system as standard 16MB increments. "

If one were to put 8 of these 16MB SIMMS into the NeXT slab, would Mach
(in NextStep's implementation, and given the NeXT architecture) recognize
all 128MB total RAM?

The product was mentioned in the latest MacWorld magazine, May 1991 issue,
on page 201. The company selling these hummers is:

Newer Technology, 316/685-4904.

End quote.
