Hiya - I was just on the phone talking to two places trying to see if they have academic prices for their NeXT stuff. One was good, the other not. :-( SoftPC *does* have an academic price. It's apparently $299.40 (the real world price is $599) and they *are* shipping. :-) The number is 415-694-7600, ask to speak to "Leslie." PLI *does* have a academic price. It's apparently $439 (down from $499). This ain't too good since NeXTConnection has it for $449+$3 shipping and PLI has $10 shipping. :-( :-( Phone PLI directly for this one. The above info is just to save people about .50c on long-distance calls. Both companies were real nice to me too. :-) Too bad PLI doesn't have a better deal, I think I'll go with NeXTConnection since (oh yeah forgot to mention it) PLI will also stick on sales tax (while I think NC doesn't). An addition to Jiro's Posting: Insignia will lower the academic price -- it I remember correctly --- by $ 25 if between 2 -- 5 people in a Department (institution?) order SoftPC, and by $ 50 if more than 5 orders are placed.
