Well, after playing with this thing for a while and looking through a bunch of the online docs to no avail, can someone on the net give me any insight as to the nature of the following problem? I hadn't re-booted the cube (030, SW 1.0, 8MB, 330MB SCSI) for several days, so I started booting it and on a sudden impulse killed the boot with the power off (yeah, I know, dumb . . .). Next, I tried to boot again from the SCSI, but it hung on "starting system services". So, looking at the console during another boot, after the execution of "update" and "cron", the system showed the date, waited for about a minute, and then gave the message: Apr 3 16:11:05 spuno npd[103]: unable to connect to window server and there it sat doing nothing more. However, when I boot from the optical drive, there are no problems (re- trying the SCSI hasn't helped either). If anyone can help, please e-mail: giddings@cs.wisc.edu Much thanks -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |Michael Giddings (giddings@cs.wisc.edu) | Computer Science Department | |"Isn't all intelligence artifical?" | UW Madison | | "The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older . . ." | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
