Someone is posting this for me, so please send any replies to comtec!tera!brandyn@ucsd.edu. I'm posting to the net instead of replying to all those who asked because there were sooo many. In summary: I did alot of shopping, and to have black modem cables made in quantities of 50 to 100 that will work with the NeXT will cost about $11 for an eight foot cable. This is paying for the parts (which aren't cheap) and the labor of soldering (which isn't easy with these mini jacks), QA'ing, wrapping, and labeling. I had originally hoped to arrange a bulk purchase, but I made a final call to NeXT Connection to see how far along they were. I ordered an 8 foot black modem cable for $19 and received it the next day. Considering the hassle involved in collecting a bunch of orders, and addressing and mailing them out, (not to mention the setup details like making sure the particular cable used works with the strain releif on the jacks used, etc...), it's probably not worth the time. However, if someone wants to do it anyway, send mail to me and I'll forward on the results of my cable-manufactors search. NeXT Connection can be reached 24 hours a day at 1-800-800-Next. Their wherehouse is located at the airport of the Airborne Express central hub, so orders placed before 3am should arrive next day. Brandyn comtec!tera!brandyn@ucsd.edu
