I'm looking to buy a new computer (hopefully on educational discount). Up until recently, I haven't consider the NeXT as an option due to its high price. However, I would like to find out more about this computer. I have used the older NeXT machines, we have two at Rutgers, one in the computer lab I work at. But both machines are pretty useless, only an optical drive, no real software, and only one has a printer (not the one in my lab). I haven't seen the new OS, but I've heard is suppose to be much better. What I would like to know is the following: - Does anyone have a list of the Ed. Prices? - How unreasonable is a color NeXT (considering I'm only a student)? - What models are available and what do they include? - How is software/hardware support? What types of applications are available and how is the pricing? I'm looking for a computer for graphics and animation work including desktop publishing. My main focus is the Amiga 3000, since the Amiga is a good computer for animaion, is well-supported, color is standard and the 3000 has the 68030. Would a NeXT suit my needs any better than the Amiga? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! :) -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :) :( :> :< :] :[ ;) :| :? :} :{ :* :^) :^( :+ :-) :\ :/ :! :$ :' :@ :O :# :<> l c s @ r e m u s . r u t g e r s . e d u ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everything stated or expressed in this post is strictly my opinion or viewpoint
