[comp.sys.next] To Doug Quist: About Memory prices, sellers

asd@mace.cc.purdue.edu (Kareth) (04/23/91)

I tried to send this to you, but my machine wouldn't recognize your address.

= Where would you suggest getting RAM from? Can I get parity
= RAM their also? If you were buying a NeXT, would you buy one
= with the smallest amount of memory (8MB), trash it and then
= buy parity RAM from some other source?
 =
= I don't really feel too comfortable without parity on my RAM.
 = What are your feelings.

I'd definitely go w/o parity, 8MB. Then ya can get parity stuff, and
sell that. Should pay for at least one of the 4MBsimms. Personally I
didn't, I didn't want to pay the extra cost and didn't really feel
that parity would be worthwile. When I upgrade to 16MB simms in the
future, I'll probably start thinking about it, but for now, I'm going
with the most I can make of my money. I don't know about parity. I'm
sure they have em, but as to wether not they are small enough to fit
in a cube. If you have a station, I don't know if prices matter. Ask
if they are less than/equal to .8 or 3/4 inch. The ones I got are
3/4-.8 inch, ditto the ones NeXT sends. The place I got mine:

Peripheral Outlet 314 S. Broadway Ada, OK 74820
Lifetime guarantee Ph. 800-332-6581
they take PO's Ph. 405-332-6581
Price: 1 Mb $39.00 o be higher
for parity simms.

Good luck!
