hi i've just read the article in Forbes magazine about NeXT Inc. and Steven Jobs, and i'm surprised at the sloppy work. she might be right about the future of NeXT, but her analysis is not very objective or valid. she compares the shipments of Sun to NeXT and states that sales of NeXT are only 10% of Sun sales. this might be so, but has she checked Sun's past. since i have Sun's last three annual reports i decided to check and this is what i found... Sun was founded in 1982 and had the following unit sales. i found the following figures in the 1989 report . unit sales year (thousands) 1985 5.9 1986 9.9 1987 24.6 1988 48.4 1989 80.7 so if NeXT did ship 4000 units in the last quarter, as she suggests, i wouldn't count NeXT out yet. stef ps. i'm not putting Sun or their products down.
