[comp.sys.next] help with /etc/exports!

gt1111a@prism.gatech.EDU (Vincent Fox) (04/25/91)

Is there any way to declare any optical inserted as exportable?
I'm running automount on Suns and SGIs. It would be nice if I could set it
on the NeXT so that joe user could plop in any optical of any name, and access
it using the automount facility from the other stations. Right now I can
do a cd /net/cadnext2/storage and get my optical, but I want to be able to
do that no matter where in the tree it is mounted. Of course I will expect
the user to know to do a "cd /net/cadnext2/home/french.1/backupOD" or
whatever is appropriate path-wise. In other words I don't want to write any
setuid root programs to let people diddle /etc/exports.
