[comp.sys.next] SUMMARY Imagewriters + NeXT

arunc@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu (Arun Chandra) (04/25/91)

Last week I posted the following request about Imagewriters and
the NeXTStation:

Can an Imagewriter I be hooked up successfully to a NeXTStation?
Are there any warnings, caveats, or potential problems I should
be aware of when combining these two machines?

I got the following responses. Thanks to all!

Yep. use serial port A. Also there exists on some ftp site somewhere
a program called iwscript which makes these things run.

Shouldn't be a problem, but if it has a centronics parallel port, and
you want more speed than out of a serial port, we sell a scsi based
port expander. A number of our customers are about to hook up
printers to the NeXT using our gadget...

EPS (Eric Scott) has also made an IW driver, but I don't know where you
can get it from.

iwf has only been tested with the ImageWriter II--the original
poster asked about an ImageWriter I.

I just don't know.
