Yes!! It's fixed!! Our Micrpolis 1684-7 is now a contributing member of our NeXT society!!! Thanks to all who responded, and especially to Mike Perka at NeXT, who gave us the clue that solved the problem. It was bad firmware that caused the drive to hang every time the slab ran mkfs. Well, not *bad* firmware, just old. The firmware rev was dated 10/24/89, and it didn't support the SCSI disconnect/reconnect sequence. After a couple of calls to Alan Novitz at Micropolis (who also deserves to be mentioned) a newer ROm was Fed Ex'd, and the drive became plug n' play. Thanks again to all who took time to try and help. After two months of head-bashing, it works!! -drin Adrian Smith ersys!drin@nro.cs.athabascau.ca Edmonton Remote Systems: Serving Northern Alberta since 1982
