Hey folks, I got my PLI floppy drive on Friday. And on Friday night I went nuts and put in my '040 board and set up my floppy drive. The new board works great. It was kind of fun (and needless to say Nerve Racking) to open up the ol' cube. Anyway... I'm confused about how to get my cube to recognize that the floppy drive exists. I hooked up the drive as SCSI device #4 . I powered up the cube and tried to format a disk using the workspace manager menu options The options were all greyed out indicating those options were not available to me. Even the eject option is not availble. So now I have a disk trapped in my floppy drive. I went back to the PLI drive instructions to see if I missed anything. I noticed the instruction which said to make sure the rear power switch is off when hooking up the device and on before booting up the machine. I tried to confirm that the power switch was indeed on, and to my surprise... THERE WAS NO POWER SWITCH!!!!!! Only two SCSI outlets, SCSI device number selector, and the Termination on/off switch. I'm really confused!!!! Any help is greatly appreciated! -Keith

Try using SCSInquirer which is on cs.orst.edu and nova.cc.purdue.edu (new versions should be there, v1.3). It will tell you what devices are on the bus and can help debug things. - jiro nakamura jiro@shaman.com -- Jiro Nakamura jiro@shaman.com Shaman Consulting (607) 253-0687 VOICE "Bring your dead, dying shamans here!"
