I'm probably insane for even considering doing this, but at the moment I've got a dinky little Atari ste, and even though it is only a few months old, I realise that the future is with more powerful computers, to put it mildly. I am a great fan of what the next can do, but know very very little about it...I suppose my questions are in FAQ, but I just read that, and didn't get clear enough answers, so: 1) How much does a NeXT cost, and what are the possible configurations? My main problem with this is that the UK prices for most things are usually 2-3 times that of the USA...if anyone can explain this to me, and perhaps offer a better way of getting a NeXT over here, let me know. Mind you, the power difference is crucial, we're on 240, not 110v. 2) I've only had basic unix skills, well, a bit more than basic, but I could hardly code my way out of a paper bag. Should I reconsider buying a NeXT? I want to learn, and am VERY keen to do so, but should something to wrong when installing the OS or whatever, I think I would just sit down and cry. :-) 3) Anyone wanna buy a Atart STE w/ 4megs? (Or can my memory be used on a NeXT?) Please, do email me, since god knows how many flames I'll get for posting this in the first place....Thanks! Scott . mcintyre@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk Scott A.
