[comp.sys.next] Hard Drive Enclosures

asd@mace.cc.purdue.edu (Kareth) (04/23/91)

Anybody know of a GOOD looking hard drive enclosure? I've been told
that the PMHDE from Pacific Micro, which is the slickest enclosure
I've seen, is extremely loud. Called them up, and the guy gave me the
run around about how they put the best fan in it so that it could push
a ton of air thru the unit so that people could put 2x1gigabyte
drives, and also be reliable too. Basically sounds like a bunch of
meadow muffins to me, if lots of other folks can have quieter enclosures
and still be cool. So I'm looking for a good looking, hopefully black
enclosure. But if worse comes to worse, I can paint the bugger black.
Just would like a *GOOD* (ie: quiet, cool, small footprint, good
looking) unit. Already gotten a few responses to an early post. So
speak up! I'll summarize what I get.

Thanks!

Does anyone out there know of a source for hard disk drive enclosures? I have a 5-1/4" Full Height Micropolis, and I need an enclosure and power supply. If anyone has a good source, I'd appreciate it. If I get any replies, I can post a summary.

  thanks,

	Peter Mark.

Well, it depends. We just put a full height in an old p.c. case for $0.00 (sort
of a fitting end for the first IBM we bought). You could buy a new P.C. case
with power supply for a lot less than most of the cases made only for the
drives.
