Is there anybody out there who has a NeXT laser printer, low mileage, for sale cheap? IE: < $1000. I'm in market, possibly, if the price is right. Also, along the same lines, are there any < $1000 PostScript printers out there that you could recommend? Maybe used. Thanks. -k

With the price of the NeXT laser printer down around $1200, I don't know why one would want to buy a used one. Is staying under $1000 that important? As to PostScript printers under a $1000 in general: The only alternative I think that you'll find is to purchase the HP II-P, or a cheap HP compatible like Epson EPL-6000, and buy a PostScript cartridge for it. I don't have any experience with PostScipt cartridges, though. - Max ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- William R. Yes, especially when you are on a limited budget. Every penny counts. If I can save $2-400, then that's all that much money I have to spend on memory or such. I specified under $1000 as it was convient. After all, if it's over, then it's just as easy to buy a new one. I wanted to include as wide a range of people who might want to sell one. If anybody wants to sell one for half of that, and it's in good shape, I'll put my money down for it right now almost (after my next paycheck). Please no comments about the price. I just want to find a good, CHEAP used printer. If you have one, and are interested in selling, contact me, if not, just ignore the above.

Here are the results of a PostScript benchmark we recently
posted to comp.laser-printers and comp.periphs.printers.
As you can see, the new NeXT is pretty fast. Perhaps we
should drop this NeXT Terminal discussion and the monitor
altogether and suggest that NeXT just sell a printer... :-)

Could you please clarify the meanings of the two columns of numbers in the printer benchmark? They are headed by "VERSION TIME" is this "VERSION","TIME" (two words) or "VERSION-TIME" (one item) ... in any case, what do these numbers represent eggsactly :-) aca //Email: ta-aca@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu OR athan@cs.columbia.edu
