Hi. I've seen a few postings about this recently, but not any answer yet. I have a cube at home, with optical but no floppy. I really don't want to go in a discussion about NeXT "forcing" us cube owners to buy a floppy disk, or "abandoning" a customer base by distributing only on the new floppy medium. What I want is a solution to my problem. I have an immediate need to transfer application packages on floppy disk to my cube, but I haven't yet found out how to accomplish this. Specifically, Frame 2.0d, Improv (not so important at the moment),and Diagram! There are _no_ other NeXTstations/cubes with floppies in Norway, as NeXT has not yet been approved for resale here. I've tried to mount these disks on a SUN Sparc LPC (or was it IPC?) without any luck, I imagine that the file systems are different. I did manage to do a dd, but I don't know how to turn a dd file back into a filesystem (i.e. FrameMaker.pkg/Frame.*, etc). I've examined the disks using Norton on a PC, but again I don't know what I can do to extract the files needed (perhaps I could read out the files sector by sector and reconstruct them in a FrameMaker.pkg directory on the cube?). I hope that someone out there has done this, I can't be the only NeXT owner who doesn't have access to a NeXT floppy drive!? I've sent an inquiry to ask_next, but so far have not received an answer. Please reply via email, I'll summarize any solutions I receive. -- Thor-Lee Legvold | ppstl@nobergen.earn (or .bitnet) University of Bergen | ppstl@cc.uib.no NORWAY | and now on NeXT...
