Thanks to EVERYONE who replied! GEE I got 12 or so replies! thanks! The first thing I did was to boot into single user mode, and change /etc/ttys back, but that didn't do the job, don't know why. I am pretty sure I had it exactly the way it was, because when I made the modification, I commented the line out, copy amd paste the same line w/o "#", then I made mods on that new line. When I went change it back, I simply removed that new line, and comment out the original one. Should do the job, right? Anyway, the problem was solved by doing these: # cp /private/etc/ttys /private/etc/ttys.bork # cp /usr/template/etc/ttys /private/etc/ttys then reboot of couse, that's when in single-user mode. Although I still don't see what's the difference, the problem's solved. I only tried this one, and it worked for me so didn't go try others suggestion. This one was from Pascal, Thanks Pascal! -- cyliao@bagend.eng.umd.edu o Q. Who am I? NeXTmail o.k. o A.
