My 040 cube has been losing hard drive space. I was at 89meg free a few days ago, but earlier today I was down to 69megs free. Finally, when I checked the cube, there was a "panic" notice and the NeXT was frozen. Typing ? at the panic> prompt gave me a bunch of options. One was to sync and reboot, which is what I did. Whatever happened this seemed to fix everything( for now) and restored my free hard drive space to 89megs! Any ideas? This has shaken my confidence in my cube, and will no doubt make me hesitate in purchasing ND. I have an OD, 040 cube, v.32bis modem, 349meg hard drive. I leave it on all the time( and never log off basically). I always keep an optical disk in the OD which has all the docs. There is a dust filter. The other error which I have noticed from the Console log is "zs1: lost xmit HW interrupt". I use tip, and the modem does call out for my mail every so often. What is going on? Forgot, I also have a PLI external floppy. Philip McDunnough University of Toronto philip@utstat.utoronto.ca
