Does anyone know how to get a SignalMan 1200 modem to wait for the 'correct' carrier when originating a call to a modem which attempts connections at 9.6K and then starts dropping through various speeds, waiting for the originator to respond? What I'm seeing is that the SignalMan dials up the remote modem (A Telebit 2500), the T2500 tries either a 9.6 or 19.2K connection, the SignalMan gets fooled by the answering carrier, about 1/10th of a second of data goes between the two modems, and the SignalMan abruptly hangs up, declaring "NO CARRIER". The asnwering T2500 goes on for a while after that trying other carriers, but it's too late; the SignalMan gets huffy immediately upon hearing the T2500's first attempt.
