I an having the same problem with getty that someone else is having. Not even a kill -9 will stop "The Getty That would Not Die !! " I too have to reboot after swaping my ttys files, ( one turns on getty, the other has it off ). I am running 2.0 and will be until I find someone willing to help me get 2.1 as I have no floppy drive and no cash to get one. -- ******************************************************************************** jdehnert@ucsd.edu "The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel" -- William Gibson -- Neuromancer -- Eschew Obfuscation ********************************************************************************

I also have experienced, under 2.0, the problem of a getty that will not die. Under 1.0 and earlier releases, one could change /etc/ttys, do a "kill -HUP 1" and then continue. This doesn't seem to work under 2.0 (for me in changing the baud rate at which a terminal is serially connected),and I too resorted to a reboot, after which the new baud rate was in effect. Glad to hear it's not just me, I was starting to feel a bit paranoid. nick katz
