isbell@ucscf.UCSC.EDU (Art Isbell) (05/09/91)

At the recent Computer Attic NeXT Solutions Conference in Santa Clara, CA, NeXT
and Steve Jobs put on a good show for lots of folks, most of whom did not
appear to be "the converted", but those truly interested in NeXT as an
alternative or addition to their current system.

NeXT introduced a new booklet that is a very good introduction to NeXTstep, The
NeXTstep Advantage. It was distributed free there and is NeXT Product #N6033.
It is 107 large-format pages with the following major sections:

	1 The NeXTstep Advantage
	5 Step-by-Step through a NeXTstep Application
	53 Object-Oriented Programming
	61 Fundamentals of NeXTstep
	73 Class Summaries
	93 NeXT Development Tools
97 Standard Data Formats on NeXT Computers
	99 Plotter Source Listings

The application being developed in this book is called Plotter.

It is a nice high-level overview of NeXTstep with the development of a
functional application detailed in a way that illustrates NeXTstep development
in a realistic fashion.

I don't know how to get it other than calling NeXT, but I think getting it
would be worth your effort.

Well done, NeXT!!
