[comp.sys.next] Interrupting boot

mconlon@holly.stat.ufl.edu (Mike Conlon) (05/10/91)

Thanks to the many people who responded to my query (yesterday)
about interrupting the boot process to edit /etc/rc.

I knew Command-` would get the the ROM monitor. I didn't know the
exact options on the boot command to go to single user.

bsd -s for hard drive
bod -s for optical

worked fine. I was then able to use vi to edit /etc/rc and /etc/rc.local
and /etc/hostconfig to make the machine stand-alone.

Thanks again to all who responded. (You can stop now!)
