I'm in what I expect is a fairly common quandry among new slab owners... I bought the 105MB system plus the 2.1 extended on floppies because I knew I could get more disk cheaper from a 3rd-party supplier. My station arrived Wednesday, and I have a 660MB fuji + Wangdat arriving Tuesday. Everythings cool, except for one little wrinkle: 8-} the 2.1 extended on floppies is backordered (and the campus pc center says that there are folks who got everything else in January who are *still* waiting for their floppies.) Hey, no problem: I just need to find somebody with the full 2.1 release and copy the stuff, right? Well, sure, except I don't know exactly what the files are... (I know what they do, but not the complete name of each file...) So... Has anyone out there actually used a NeXT with the full 2.1 release to build the full release on a NeXTstation+105MB+3rd-party-disk? How about building the "extended" release into a tar.Z file? Are there instructions for doing this at any of the archive sites? (purdue, etc.) (I've looked, honest, but I don't have the disk space to ftp down all the stuff and *really* rummage through it...) If no one has yet written up instructions, is there anybody out there in net.land who could? a million thanks in advance... cathy :-)-- Cathy Fasano aka: Cathy Johnston, fasano@unix.cis.pitt.edu cathy@gargoyle.uchicago.bitnet, uunet!unix.cis.pitt.edu!fasano "If there's no solution, then it isn't a problem." -- Evening Shade

Sorry, I don't have the answer. I was just asking to post it to the net instead of e-mailing, as this is a pretty common question among me and a couple of people I know. Thanks. Jeff -- jeffo@uiuc.edu
